Open Up Sheffield hosted their annual art exhibition over bank holiday weekend and it will repeat this weekend with different artists in their venues choosing to display their work.
Open Up Sheffield has been celebrating Sheffield’s cultural vibrancy and showcasing up and coming artists for over 25 years.
Tom Heller, 80, an artist that took part in the exhibition, said: “This is a big feature of Sheffield’s cultural and creative life, who knows what’s going on in artistic studios all over the place?
“It is a great part of the cultural year”.
The annual open studio event now has over 140 talented artists in over 90 venues opening up their studios for visitors.
Mr Heller said: “For me, it’s an opportunity to sell my stuff because I sell all my work in aid of a charity.
“All my money goes to a charity called spreading health which trains nurses in Cameroon”.

Mr Heller’s work will not be on display this weekend but other artists across Sheffield will be eager for locals to pay a visit to their studios. Exhibitions such as these are where artists make the majority of their money.
Open up Sheffield’s exhibitions are a big attraction for people interested in art nationwide and even abroad. Mr Heller said: “I have sold some stuff to people taking it back to their house in Turkey.”
They are run by its members on a not-for-profit basis. They have a small committee that works across the year to organise and market the event as well as help artists welcome visitors into their studios.
RivelinCo is one of Open Up Sheffield’s sponsors. They said: “Open up is a brilliant opportunity for artists to connect and share their process, and also invites Sheffield’s communities to discover vibrant art being made on their doorstep.

“RivelinCo are delighted to be a regular collaborator with Open Up Sheffield, providing space and support for early career artists to share their art and process with the public. The network and support Open Up provide to the artists makes it a transformative stepping stone in an artist’s career.”
