Evacuation zone reduced to just three houses in Grimethorpe incident
The cordon surrounding a property in Grimethorpe, Barnsley has been further reduced to include just three houses last night.
Two were arrested yesterday morning, on suspicion of offences under the Firearms Act, a 57-old woman and 58-year-old man They both remain in police custody.
Local residents who were originally evacuated are being advised that they can now return safely to their homes.
All roads in the area have now been reopened.
Sheffield Sharks: The Playoffs semifinal away game taking place tomorrow night
The DBL Sharks, a local basketball team, is competing against Cheshire Phoenix tomorrow at Ellesmere Port Sports Village at 7:30 PM.
Game two will be a home game this Sunday at Canon Medical Arena at 4:35pm.
The winners in the Semi-Finals will then progress to the BBL Playoff Final which is the grand showpiece of the basketball season, taking place at The O2, London.
Police launch dedicated patrols on a local pub after series of break-ins
The Harlequin Sheffield, on nursery street, has been a target for burglars.
The pub was temporarily closed after a break-in last month, police officers are ‘actively working’ to introduce the ‘dedicated patrols.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said to The Star that Officers offered landlady Liz Aspden crime prevention advice after CSI attended to investigate.
Police CCTV appeal after theft from garden
A report has been made to the police on Wednesday 24 April at 10.44am metal parts worth around £1,000 were stolen from the garden of a property on Millhouses Lane.
Police would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image as he may be able to help with enquiries.
The man is described as a man in his 30s, of medium build, with short dark black or brown hair and a beard and moustache.
