For today our live blog will run through our new 2024 election stream where you can find all updates on the Sheffield, Barnsley, and Rotherham elections.

Our usual coverage will also still be running across the newsroom to keep you updated.

Good morning from the Shefnews newsroom

Emily Shenton will be updating the live feed with all of the latest news from the election counts across Sheffield and Barnsley, with the first results expected at 11.30am. Across Sheffield there are 29 seats, and in Barnsley there are 21. In Sheffield, all attention is on Labour and Lib Dem, with Labour still the largest party in the city, as they hold just one more seat than the Lib Dems.

Todays results will provide a snapshot into how people are feeling going into the General election later this year.

Ollie Potts and Peter Spriggs will be reporting live from the count in Sheffield.

Georgia Cook will be reporting live from the count in Barnsley and for Shefnews radio Isaac Saunders and Taylor Jones will be reporting.

Barnsley resident, Karen Kenworthy, has began using her love of art to cope with her mental illness.

Mrs Kenworthy suffers from borderline personality disorder (BPD) – an impulsive mental disorder that affects an individual’s mood and social functions.
