Chesterfield couple petition for the change in bereavement leave for parents

After losing their son Toby at three weeks old in November, Laura Hicklin and Dale Barker have been on a journey to change the current law surrounding parental bereavement leave.

The current UK law states that if a child is stillborn after 24 weeks of pregnancy, the birth mother can get up to 52 weeks of statutory maternity leave or pay whereas the birth father can only get up to 2 weeks.

This weekend: Sharrow Vale Market calls for volunteers in biggest event yet

Sharrow Vale Market returns bigger than ever this Sunday from 12pm-4pm with 105 stalls expected to fill the street with food, clothes, crafts, and music.

The non-profit event raises money for local charities and community spaces such as the planters on Sharrow Vale Road and their Pocket Park.

Appeal to identify man in connection with burglary

South Yorkshire Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a burglary at the Saw Grinders Union on Penistone Road.

The burglary took place in the early hours of 24 February 2024 and the public can report any information here.
