‘Rock your Socks’ – raising awareness on World Down’s Syndrome Day
The second annual ‘Rock your Socks’ campaign by Sheffield Mencap & Gateway has been launched aimed at raising awareness and funding for individuals with learning disabilities such as Down’s Syndrome.
The initiative encourages the public to wear eye-catching socks to highlight the genetic condition, which coincides with World Down’s Syndrome Day on Thursday 21st March.
Carol Cook, Marketing, Communications and Fundraising manager at Sheffield Mencap & Gateway, said: “We encourage people to do something that seems insignificant like wearing bright coloured socks but it is a really good way to start conversation.”

Sheffield’s Yorkshireman Pub in the city centre set to reopen tomorrow
Just months after the pub shut down in January, the owners has announced via Facebook that they are reopening on Saturday 23rd March.
The Yorkshireman Pub is located on Arundel Gate and was known as one of Sheffield’s of best live venues for rock music before it closed down due to reasons personal to their family.
Many followers of the group have commented on the community post, saying that the reopening is ‘fantastic’ and ‘brilliant’.
