Fortnightly men’s mental health walk coming to Sheffield

A mental health charity that organises regular walks for men in an attempt to alleviate loneliness has expanded to Sheffield.

Men living in the city are encouraged to take part and discuss any issues or problems they may have with the walk leaders and fellow walkers.

Burglary crackdown continues in Doncaster with three men jailed

Three men have been jailed for burglary in Doncaster, a year after the launch of a city-wide campaign of action tackling burglaries by South Yorkshire Police.

As a result of Operation Castle, one of the men, Lee Barnes, received an eight-year sentence after raiding a person’s home and threatening her with a knife. He admitted multiple burglaries and attempted burglaries as well as fraud, assault and robbery.

Rotherham youth group leader calls for ‘vital’ funding and support from council

A youth group leader has called for more funding from the Government and local councils as she single-handedly supports vulnerable girls in Rotherham.

Michelle Roberts, 48, started ‘Rise Up’ after her work at a hostel highlighted a lack of personal development groups for young women.

Tesco Express store reopens after extended closure

The Tesco Express store in Fulwood has reopened after being closed for several months.

The shop on Fulwood Road, which also served as the area’s only petrol station, shut its doors early in the new year with what people in the area say was ‘very little prior warning’.
