Community hub libraries increase opening hours

Libraries around Sheffield have increased their opening hours following a recent council meeting.

The council-run community hub libraries are now open on the same days and times across the city.

Trains between Manchester and Sheffield to be affected by engineering work.

From this weekend, Saturday 16th March, trains running between Manchester and Sheffield will be diverted or run on an amended timetable due to essential engineering work.

Rail replacement services will be in operation between Sheffield, Dore and Totley, Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.

Some trains will still operate between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly with one train every 2 hours.

it is expected to affect services until Sunday 24th March.

Sheffield murder investigation leads to three arrests

A third arrest has been made in connection to the murder at Ponderosa Park on Saturday.

A 25 year old woman was arrested last night in connection to the death of Sacad Ali, 24, who was stabbed to death on Saturday morning in the Netherthorpe Area of Sheffield.

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, have also been arrested earlier this week. All three remain in police custody.

Yorkshire Cricket managing director steps down from role.

The Managing Director for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Darren Gough, has stepped down from his role at the club this morning.

Gough, born in Barnsley, is a former fast bowler for Yorkshire and England Cricket club.

He became manger of Yorkshire Cricket in December 2021, taking over the role from Martyn Moxon.

In a statement released by the Cricket Club, Gough said: “It’s been an absolute honour to work for my boyhood Club over the last two seasons.”
