Sarah Jones, 34, from Rotherham has been volunteering to clean up the “forgotten” headstones in and around her community.

She has been focusing on unmaintained gravestones for the last seven months and is planning to create a volunteer group.

BREAKING NEWS: Prolific Barnsley thief jailed

Michael Cash, 34, has been jailed for five months after crimes were deemed “so serious” by the judge.

Cash, of Nanny Marr Crescent, Darfield, was caught after stealing £1,000 worth of alcohol from a supermarket and using a child to help him commit his crimes.

PC Carla Wild, who was the officer in charge of the case, said: “Cash’s offending was sophisticated, planned and prolific.”

South Yorkshire encouraged to ‘give nature a helping hand’ with pocket forests initiative

The mayor of South Yorkshire is taking major steps towards fulfilling his commitment to planting a tree for every person in South Yorkshire. 

Mayor Oliver Coppard is working with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to plant trees in efforts to improve sustainability in South Yorkshire.
