SHEFFIELD’S schoolchildren have been encouraged to virtually come together, celebrate poetry, and embrace imagination this half-term holiday.
In partnership with CHOL, Site Gallery and Volunteer Libraries Sheffield, the Readathon Live team have been hosting free creative workshops and performance events all week with the aim of showcasing diversity within South Yorkshire.
David McNeil, Community Coordinator for Zest Community Hub, said: “We have never held the Readathon virtually before. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
To mark the event, youngsters were encouraged to send in a video of themselves reading a specially-made poem by Sheffield Libraries’ Writer in Residence, Nik Perring.
He said: “It’s a great way of getting to more people. It’s been really cool to get involved!”
