The beloved Tramlines Festival has announced their official 2021 line-up will be released on 26 April at 6pm.
The fate of the festival unfortunately depends on the scale of Covid-19 cases and whether lockdown restrictions will be lifted as planned.
Tramlines’ spokesperson, Alex Deadman, said: “We learn things at the same time as the public. There is still absolutely no guarantee we can do the festival at this time.”
The government set out their roadmap out of lockdown earlier this year, highlighting 21 June as the earliest possible date for normality in the UK.
Mr Deadman said the festival is in an unusual position, where they are almost sold out before ticket sales have begun due to people saving their tickets from 2020.
Last year’s ticket sales have helped secure the festival’s finances, since many have been forced to cancel due to the lack of government-backed insurance schemes, including Hampshire’s Boomtown.
The organisers have said they plan to announce over 40 artists, including all of their headliners.
In a statement released on Tuesday, they said: “We’ll be announcing over 40 artists, including all three Nulty’s Main Stage headliners plus all T’Other stage artists, all Library headliners & so much more! Watch this space, it’ll be worth the wait.”
In 2020, we missed out on acts including Ian Brown, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Madness.
Many believe last year’s main headliners will be recycled to perform the set Covid prevented them from doing last year.
On 7 April, the Tramlines Twitter account retweeted a post by the Courteeners, with the caption: “So. Many. Bangers.” Could this be a hint at a possible headliner?
