An art exhibition is showing artwork highlighting the stark contrast between Sheffield’s Harcourt road and the Harcourt road in Hong Kong.
Clara Cheung and Gum Cheng, the artists of this project which opened earlier this month, both emigrated from Hong Kong in 2021.
Their relocation to Sheffield came with some unexpected familiarities, one being the similarity of street names.
The artists have collaborated with residents, researches, and activists in both cities. This project displays a mapping of the streets shown through cartography, postcards and paintings.
Gum Cheng has been interviewed at Bloc projects to share Clara’s and his purpose behind wanting to share this project to the public and explaining some of the meaning behind their work.
