Following on from their gig last week performing at the opening of Sheffield’s Make Noise Studios’ new performance space, we sat down with the up-and-coming six piece jazz/funk/swing band We Hate The Sharkman after their most recent show at The Washington. The band spoke about how they met, discovering their style, and writing music together. Discussing the challenges and fun they’re experiencing rising through Sheffield’s music scene, the beachy-ready boys: (from left to right) Joe Johnson (keys); Alex La Fleur (bass); Jack Stott (frontman and tenor saxophone); Matthew Radcliffe (alto and baritone saxophone); Peter Richards (guitar and percussion), and Leo Russell Moore (drums) walked us through how their own enjoyment of music and personal networks have helped to shape their musical identity.
