The Peace Gardens in Sheffield City Centre were transformed to celebrate the beginning of King Charles III’s reign, last weekend.
However, criticism of the monarchy has been steadily growing for years, with the support for an elected head of state at an all time high, and only 55% of people thinking that we should have a king according to the most recent British Societal Attitudes statistics.
Shef News spoke to people both in support and against the monarchy.
The spectacle of the event with the cost of living at an all-time high, has led to protests across the country all week, leading to even more criticism for how the police responded to those protests.
