An event marking the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia was held in the Sheffield Winter Gardens on 17 May.
The event was organised by Say It charity and Sheffield council alongside the Sheffield Rainbow Blades, a Sheffield United support group.
James Laley, founder of the Rainbow Blades said: “for someone to stop something that they enjoy because of homophobia is just not right” when talking about members of the LGBT+ community giving up football because of harassment.
The event featured a one minute of noise as well as speeches from various different people and organisations including the BiSocial and a Sheffield United Women’s first team player.
We spoke to the organiser as well as some other attendees of the event about the importance of this day and what it means to them.
