Last week the drag society at the University of Sheffield put on their final show of year, filled with jaw-dropping acts from artists new and old.
This year has been a busy one for drag soc, which has used many of its shows throughout the year to raise money for various causes, including their Valentines for Palestine show.
The total amount raised by drag soc is expected to be revealed by the Students’ Union in September.
Fred Anson, the president of drag soc also known as Pesty Cide, said: “It was one of the best shows I have ever been a part of. We have all improved so much over the year and it was amazing to see all the different forms of creativity which each member has.
“It was some members’ first time performing and I couldn’t be more excited to see what we have in store for the future. I am so proud of everyone involved.”
The passion poured into their show was clear to see, with three acts spanning multiple hours, each act elevating the audience’s expectations of drag.
The acts ranged from a parody of Bob’s Burgers, a mashup featuring Gavin and Stacey, and a lip sync battle, to sultry performances and hilariously woven innuendos.
The audience was clearly entertained throughout the entire show, as the sounds of laughter and cheering continued long after the curtains closed.
Jayne Oyeyemi, who attended the end of year show, said: “I’d never been to a drag show before and everybody blew me away, I just couldn’t stop laughing.
“I will definitely be going to their next one, it was well good.”
The following video was filmed by Billy Yeomans and shared to Pesty Cide’s social media.
