A woman and two teenage boys are due to appear in Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today after being charged for a murder in a park in Crookesmoor.

Rebecca Moore, 24 of Springvale Walk, Sheffield and two teenage boys aged 16 and 17 who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged yesterday with the murder of Sacad Ali and possession of an offensive weapon.

Sacad Ali (pictured above) was found with several stab wounds in Ponderosa in the early hours of last Saturday morning, March 9.

A statement from the police said: “Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics and our own officers at the scene, Scared was sadly pronounced dead in the park that same morning.”

Moore and the two teenagers were arrested earlier this week in connection with Mr Ali’s death and all three have since been charged and remanded in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood, who is the Senior Investigating Officer for this case, said: “This was a truly horrific murder that has cut short the life of a young man.”

He said there will also be additional patrols in the area around Ponderosa Park as part of this investigation and has urged those with concerns to speak to our officers in the area.

DCI Wood said: “They are there to help you and to keep you safe.

“I also wish to extend my condolences to Sacad’s family and friends. My thoughts go out to them at this heart breaking time and I want to assure them that we are working round the clock to secure justice for his loved ones.”

The case is still ongoing.

Always An Alternative is a charity organisation that works with young people to educate and support them to make safe and positive life choices.

The Charity runs youth clubs, mentoring and knife crime projects.

Anthony Olaseinde who runs these projects said knife crime is a massive issue amongst young people.

He said: “We should be educating people about knife crime and giving youths the skills to avoid not just knife crime but any confrontation.

“Even if you feel you may not be directly impacted by knife crime, having awareness is so important.”

South Yorkshire Police continue to urge anyone with information following Sacad’s death to get in touch via their Major Incident Public Portal.
