A Sheffield based professional darts player is in danger of losing his tour card after a poor start to the year.
Adam Warner, 26, is yet to win a game on the tour this year, despite several close losses.
Warner said: “what it used to be was 24 players qualify through the tour card qualifier. which is now only ten do.
That’s less than half the chance of last year that I’m going to get into these events and those events.”
Adam won his tour card last year at cue school after rising up through the university darts scene.
Speaking on his rise he said: “at first it was just a bit of fun at first or meet some new people,
go and have a laugh play tournament. I just went from there really.”
Warner also spoke about how some professional darts players struggle to maintain darts as a full time job.
He said: “Obviously, if you lose, you get no money and you’ve still got to pay for things.
I think one of the other changes they’ve made moving the Pro Tour to the midweek for the lads,
who’ve got full time jobs or part time jobs has made it a lot more difficult.”
