Cyclist campaigners have asked for change to make cycle routes in Sheffield safer and more accessible.
On Saturday, hundreds attended campaign group Cycle Sheffield’s ‘Big Ride 2024’ around the city centre, starting and ending in Devonshire Green.
Roy Ellis, from Cycle Sheffield, said: “Today we are calling for better cycle routes, safe routes to town, better routes for school, better routes all round.”
Mr Ellis added for far too long, Sheffield has been prioritising car drivers over other forms of transport, like cycling.
Emma Burt, 35, who helped organise the event, said: “Local councils and central government should absolutely be prioritising active transport.
“It’s good for our wellbeing, it’s good for the environment, which we really need to do something about.”
The bike ride was monitored by 25 marshals, who were all volunteers.
