Sheffield’s vegan market took place last Sunday on The Moor and saw a high turnout with a number of stalls offering a variety of vegan friendly foods.

Vendors were selling a range of vegan foods from different cuisines such as hot dogs, salted codfish, yorkshire puddings, and maple pecan swirls.

Gerda Juozapavičiūtė, co founder of Plantuguese, the UK’s first fully plant based Portuguese cuisine said: “We travel all around the UK with our market and this is one of the busiest markets we do.”

The market started at 10:30am and continued until 4:30pm with the vendors setting up from eight in the morning. 

Reiss Seymour, founder of Vausages, a vegan hot dog company said: “Typically we do just vegan markets and then music festivals because its a different demographic than the high street.

“The biggest factor is us being able to trade at venues or cities where there’s a big audience.

“We’ll go to certain towns where we don’t make any money because there is not really any footfall, whereas cities like Sheffield, Newcastle, or Bristol, these bigger cities with a student population is where we tend to see that we do better.”

The vegan market will next be returning to Sheffield on the 28th of July.
