Unleashed Events held its tenth annual ‘Comic Con’ in Rotherham.
The event took place at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Templeborough, Rotherham, which is an educational visitor attraction.
Magna has been home to Unleashed’s Comic Con since 2015, making this its tenth annual convention.
Comic Con is a fan convention featuring all things book, film, and comic culture.
Fans can meet each other, often dressing up, and sometimes get the chance to meet creators, experts, authors, and even actors.
Helena Collins, 25, a regular Comic Con attendee, said: “We’ve been going to cons for ten plus years, so we just Google whenever one’s on, and we’ve come to this one quite a bit.
“We just really like Anime and gaming.”
For other people, like Chloe Brocklehurst, Unleashed’s event was the first Comic convention they’d attended.
Ms Brocklehurst said: “This is my first one but I’ve found it quite nice really.
“I’m really into artsy stuff so I wanted to come and look at all the art stalls and displays,” said the 26-year-old.
This year’s event featured media guests including Nicola Bryant, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Sophie Aldred, and even Phil Fletcher with Hacker T Dog.
Authors and creators K.S. Marsden, Blake Books, and Elinor Taylor also attended the event to meet and interact with fans.
Tom and Becky, both 27, came to the event together to collect Pokemon cards.
Becky said: “We love Pokemon! Tom has got his favourite and I’ve got mine.”
“We’re also just looking around at the artwork,” said Tom.
Fan conventions like Comic Con create a safe space for families, sci-fi experts, and comic fans to come together and share their fandom passions.
Becky said: “It’s a nice and safe space here, you know.
“I don’t feel intimidated or anything like that.”

Katie Bocetti, 25, also attended the event, and said: “Sharing these niche interests with like-minded people is a really positive experience and makes you feel part of a bigger fan community.”
Most guests who attend these events have a particular comic or character of interest, and will often create their own costumes to replicate them.
