Police are making enquiries following a report of a woman being assaulted by two men at Woodseats House Road.

Videos of three men door-knocking and asking residents to support a boycott of Israeli goods circulated locally on X earlier this week. It has since gained national attention, receiving millions of views.

The police received videos of the interaction and stated that a group were doorknocking in the area and handing out leaflets when they were approached by two individuals.

It is alleged that one of the men in the first group was assaulted in an altercation between the two groups.

NPT Inspector Amy Mellor said: “I am aware that videos about the incident in Woodseats are circulating on social media. Our officers are working hard to understand the full circumstances.

“I know that residents may be concerned, and I would like to reassure you that our officers have been in the area over the weekend and will be back today to provide reassurance to the community. If you have any concerns, please speak them, they are there to support you.”

South Yorkshire Police have since received a report of a religiously motivated assault in relation to this incident at 11.28am on Sunday, 15 February.

A Jewish woman who wishes to remain unnamed has lived in Sheffield for over a decade and told ShefNews she finds this behaviour not only ‘intimidating’ but also ‘misguided’.

She said: “I feel that I have always got on with my neighbours in this city and I am proud that it was the first city of sanctuary in the country. But this kind of behaviour sows mistrust and ill-feeling.

“As a way of promoting peace, I don’t support sanctions [the boycott]. I believe it just pushes the ‘sanctioned’ further into a defensive corner and so increases polarity and alienation, rather than nurturing understanding and working to a common goal, in this case peace.

“Since when did arguments get resolved by not talking”

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to get in touch online or by calling 101, quoting incident number 309 of February 15 2026.
