Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder held a press conference this morning before Sunday’s game in the Championship League against Sheffield Wednesday, the second derby match in this league.
With Sheffield Wednesday being bottom of the league with -7 points and Sheffield United being 15th with 42 points the prospects of Sheffield Wednesday winning are low.
Sheffield United Manager Chris Wilder said: “Complete respect for Henrik and a group of players that the feel and talk of it is its a mismatch, its a gimme, whether its bookies adds, narrative in the city, whether its the narrative from sky or anybody else but football just doesn’t work like that.
“We prepare for their A game and we’ll prepare for our A game as well and sometimes you don’t get it, we didn’t get it last Saturday. But what I did see was a team that fought all the way and understanding for a 46 game season sometimes you have games like that.”
After Sheffield United’s match against Portsmouth on Saturday they came out on top with a goal in the 90th minute from Andre Brooks. But Sheffield United’s performance in the first half wasn’t at the pace and intensity that Portsmouth showed.
Ahead of the Derby match the United manager said that he would be making more preparations for this match as its “never just a normal three points” and more preparation is going to be needed.
For the derby match it is still up in the air how each side will position their starting 11 but both teams will be wanting to win.
He said: “We need a big start, we want to put them on the back foot. We’ve been pretty good at home recently even the Middlesbrough game we were outstanding from the off.
“Our start that we’ve made on our games here recently has been big and we need another big start and hopefully get that first goal but understanding and doing it in a sensible way.”
