Are you wondering what to do with your little ones this weekend for World Book Day? Look no further.
1: Creative writing events with Grimm & Co
A registered charity in Rotherham is hosting two events for children across South Yorkshire this weekend in honour of World Book Day.
Grimm & Co is a Yorkshire literary charity that supports under-resourced children and young people with their confidence by giving them writing and creativity lessons.
A spokesperson for the charity has said: “We know that strong writing skills and an ability to imagine beyond what we experience are fundamental to future success. We also believe it is important for young people to see a real reason to write so there is always an outcome from the activities we do.”
They are hosting two workshops this Saturday: Poetry Portraits with Kimberly Whittam and Froggy fun with the Bug Belly Books.
Poetry Portraits involves creating t-shirts from self portrait poems, inspired by Kimberly Whittam’s book “Quiet storm”, a children’s story about finding your voice. The charity said it will be a fun, hands on way to write, imagine, and celebrate who they are.
Paul Morton will be showing children an excerpt from his Bug Belly books and then helping them create their own bugs using colourful crafting, this event is primarily for primary school children.
Both authors will be hosting a book signing event afterwards with books available to purchase.
Tickets are available through the Grimm & Co Eventbrite.
