Two ex-professional snowboarders from Sheffield have highlighted the lack of price-friendly facilities for riders across the North of England.

The Spring Break British Snowboard Board Test, an event held in Austria where the UK’s top brands and riders gather to test unreleased equipment provided the backdrop for the discussion, with Paul Cooper and Paul Ferguson reflected on the lasting impact of the Sheffield Ski Village closure in 2012.

Paul Cooper highlighted: “It is affordability. It’s so expensive to ride a Snowdome. The Ski Village had a scheme where you could work six hours and get unlimited ski and snowboard, anybody could do that.”

Both men still reside in Sheffield and remain active within the UK snowboarding industry.
