Cupola Gallery is celebrating 35 years of showcasing artists from Sheffield and around the world with a special open exhibition running until 5 September.

The Gallery was first established between a betting shop and launderette during a recession in Hillsborough in 1991.

Curator and Director Karen Sherwood reflects on the thousands of artists whose work has been exhibited across its four spaces over the years.

A wide range of artistic mediums has featured at the gallery over the past 35 years, from painting and sculpture to photography, film and performance art. Sherwood highlights the gallery’s anniversary celebrations and looks ahead to its upcoming events, including a jazz night on 30 August.

Sherwood said: “Rather than try to describe what will be in this anniversary exhibition we simply invite you to come and
enjoy.”
