Lava Esports has announced a variety of new initiatives for gamers to give them an experience “better than before” when they reopen on May 17.
The esports café, like thousands of other businesses, was given the green light by Boris Johnson to open up as part of his roadmap out of lockdown.
To get gamers back through their doors, on Rockingham Street near the City Centre, Lava is making changes and offering incentives to customers, including three hours of free gaming.
Kieran Whitehouse, head of Lava Marketing, said: “I am really excited to have Lava re-open again as we have a range of new initiatives to help gamers game better than before.”
Lava is offering limited-time deals to customers who subscribe to their newsletter from May 17 to May 19. They have not been able to have customers for months due to Covid-19 restrictions prohibiting inside hospitality venues from opening.
Director and shareholder of Lava, Jay Song, said: “The past year was the hardest period for most businesses, including Lava Esports.
“The reopening date has finally arrived and we are very excited to provide a fantastic offer for the esports fans.
“We have reduced the pricing system so that it could be more affordable for young gamers. We wish to provide a venue that is full of the esports atmosphere and a social place for fans who can; make new friends, improve skill and most importantly get the best gaming experience.”
The other changes Lava is implementing include a new online payment system, which removes queuing inside. They are also sending out monthly surveys to customers to get feedback on where they can improve.
Mr Whitehouse added: “Overall I can’t wait to get things going again as I’ve missed the competitiveness the gamers bring to the centre and the joy and despair of seeing them fight against friends in their games.
“You have to feel for people, having been locked up in their rooms for so long. We are delighted to give them an outlet to meet up with friends again in a safe and controlled Covid-free environment.”
