A memorial sculpture for those affected by the Covid pandemic has been unveiled by Sheffield City Council.
The opening ceremony, which took place at Balm Green Gardens yesterday, was specifically chosen to coincide with the national day of Covid remembrance.
The memorial is to commemorate ‘those who have lost their lives, those who have worked above and beyond to keep people as safe as possible and those who have been affected by Covid’.
Members of the public are invited to attach personal messages to the sculpture, to allow them to connect with the memorial.
Sioned-Mair Richards, Lord Mayor of Sheffield, spoke about what the sculpture means to them, and to the city.
