The Red Lines is a proposal for parking restrictions across Ecclesall Road that has proven highly controversial.

Many businesses fear closure or downsizing, even after defying the odds of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The controversial plan has yet to be scrapped, even in the wake of significant responses from local businesses.

In recent weeks, a petition has been released suggesting 78.3% of businesses identified would be strongly against the initiative.

Though Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors have seemed to be openly against the proposal, the Green Party has refused to rule out the implementation of the red lanes.

The proposal originated back in November of 2021, but 18 months later, businesses are still shrouded in confusion.
