Last weekend celebrated the 16th annual Record Store Day following the news that vinyl outsold CD for the first time in nearly four decades.
The day offered fans the opportunity to grab exclusive records from their favourite artists – Taylor Swift, The 1975, and Elton John to name a few.
Some cities saw fans queue up outside record stores as early as 5am for a chance to make sure they secured the limited releases.
The first time the event appeared was in America in 2008 to celebrate independently owned record stores and it has only grown since.
But just what is the appeal of playing and collecting records and what has caused this massive revival of an arguably vintage hobby?
