To mark Allergy Awareness Week, two Sheffield restaurants shared how they best support their customers with allergies.
Charity Allergy UK, who set up the campaign, found over half of people living with allergies in the UK regularly avoid social situations due to their allergy.
This can be due to social anxieties around speaking up about their allergy, or fear of being contaminated and ending the day in hospital.
The same number also claimed they had allergic reactions after eating at restaurants claiming their food was “safe” to eat.
In the UK, all food establishments have a legal obligation to protect customers with allergies.
