Sheffield’s Dog and Partridge pub, located on Trippet Lane, is hosting an “anti-coronation” event this weekend.
The pub wants to create a safe space for people not looking to celebrate King Charles III coronation on Saturday.
As a nation, many people at the moment are struggling to afford to put food on the table and keep a roof over their children’s heads. The coronation in itself is expected to cost between £50m and 100 million, which some Britons think is unnecessary, in contrast to the struggles people are facing at the moment in England.
Pub owner Connor Smith told Shef News why he feels this weekend’s traditional celebrations are “uncomfortable”, when there are much more worthy causes that taxpayers’ money could be used for.
