The first Northern-based Muslim women climbing group is set to launch in Sheffield.

The founder of Muslim Women Climb is Maqaddas Ahmad, a 22-year-old climbing coach at Sheffield Climbing Hanger.

Sheffield is known as the UK’s climbing capital, with thousands of climbing spots from the outskirts of the city centre and into the Peak District.

Indoor climbing, also known as bouldering is rock climbing without ropes, harnesses and helmets, and by solely using your climbing shoes and a bag of chalk to climb the wall over safety mats.

University of Sheffield students are also running a campaign to help Muslim women break stereotypes and enjoy sports.
