The annual food gathering will make a return during the bank holiday later this month, offering people a wide variety of food, drinks and community events.

When and where will the festival take place?

The event will be held at Sheffield Peace Gardens on Pinstone Street with no entry fee.

It will run between 26 May and 29 May, but the opening hours are not the same each day. Vendors will open their doors from 5pm to 9pm on the first day and from 10am to 9pm over the weekend.

The festival will end earlier on the last day, closing at 6pm.

What can be expected from the festival?

Food

More than 50 street food traders are returning to the festival, including Churromania, Chef Stef, The Yorkshire Crêpe Co. and Caribbean Fusion.

Vegan restaurant VorV and Tonko Bakery in Sharrow will participate for the first time.

There will also be an artisan market selling cakes, craft beers, sauces and preserves.

Entertainment during the day

The organiser announced on Wednesday Chesterfield singer Georgie Mills, local solo music artist Matic Mouth, indie band Shabbah and long-time DJ Geoff Ticehurst were invited to perform, along with many others on the main stage.

The main stage will be powered by solar energy only by Stage Bus.

Half of the performing artists are female.

Entertainment during the night

Local drag queen Emma Maezin will bring a family-friendly bingo game on Friday.

There will also be a disco night on Saturday and quiz night challenging your knowledge of the Steel City on Sunday.

Who is the organiser?

Partnership Coordinator of ShefFood Selina Treuherz said the organiser has changed because the tender agreement between the previous organiser and the council had finished.

Swan Events, a women-led organisation aiming to “create dynamic and engaging work”, will be organising the event for the first time.

It is the second time Sheffield saw a food festival after the coronavirus pandemic.

Noemi Antonelli, the Managing Director of Swan Events, said: “I just moved up to Sheffield and we would love to be part of the community. It made us very proud that the first event is at such a big scale.

“We want to get stuck into it straight away and start developing it for the next few years.”
