The Candlelight Concerts are now taking place in Sheffield’s Victoria Hall following their popularity in Manchester and Leeds.

Since its initial launch in 2019, the candlelight concerts have taken place in unique venues worldwide from churches to mansions and other historic landmarks that are part of a city’s cultural heritage.

Maddy Lackey, the Project Manager for Sheffield said: ”Candlelight Concerts aim to democratise access to classical music through versatile programs, from ABBA to Coldplay, and accessible ticket pricing.”

The concert is hosted by Fever which is a live-entertainment discovery platform known for helping millions of people find the best experiences in their cities.

Fever has also partnered with Sofitel in Paris, New York, Sydney, Singapore and Amsterdam during the festive season.

The concerts feature a variety of performances and tributes to different music artists such as ABBA, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and more.

This exclusive series of concerts is a tribute to the unique Candle Ritual created in 2007. Each evening, a special event is held at all of Sofitel’s global locations, inspired by the tradition of lighting up the streets of Paris.

Mrs Lackey said: ”The idea behind Candlelight Concerts was to bring in audiences that had not yet experienced classical music. This may be due to the lack of interest in the programs or because the prices were too high. We wanted to resolve this problem by creating an event that appeals to this missing audience.

“We have a dedicated curation team that is constantly creating new programs to meet this new found demand. Last year we even tested Arctic Monkeys on the Strings program.”

The concerts will start today and end on the 18th of May.
