The Dog and Partridge on Trippet Lane is home to a variety of limited time dark beers for residents to try.

Following Sheffield Beer Week, they are celebrating their 10th annual year of running it through a showcase of local breweries, news beer releases and social events.

Connor Smith, the Licensing Business owner of The Dog and Partridge, said: “Sheffield Beer Week is very important to us since its a beer focussed city which provides a lot of employment opportunities for people and good social times.”

These beer fanatics see beer deeper than just a beverage, viewing it for its flavours and unique nature.

“All the different variations are just so interesting and I think its good to showcase this, especially in Beer Week where people are already trying different beers in different venues.”

According to IBIS world, there are ‘27,650 pubs and bar businesses in the UK as of 2023’, most of which provide pints by large scale businesses.

Sheffield Beer Week aims to support and promote small, local business and breweries which are outshone in today’s beer market.

“The most important part of the industry is local brewing. You know, local, independent brewers and pubs, the whole thing about local markets and how it benefits the local economy.”

According to Mintel, the Beer market in 2023 was worth 17 billion pounds, highlighting how pivotal of a role it plays in todays society.

“I think the danger is that if everything is owned by big macro companies you tend to lose a lot of variety, choice and quality that you get from local, dedicated, passionate people who really care. You know, they’re not just moving numbers on a balance sheet.”

Events that support local breweries and pubs are taking place all over South Yorkshire this week, alongside later in the year.

Exciting opportunities include The Doncaster Brewery Tap’s regular beer festival from Thursday 28th of March to Sunday 1st of April.

Mallard’s regular beer festival will also take place from the 25 to the 29 April.
