On Tuesday night a group of women celebrated the 10th anniversary of Sheffield beer week by hosting 25 women
The shop, Hop Hideout, founded by Jules Gray, organised the South Yorkshire Beer Girls social to give women a safe space to drink beer.
She said: “Drink spiking has been an issue in lots of major cities and sometimes if a woman enters a pub on her own she can be approached when she doesn’t want to be.”
Sheffield beer week has organised a number of events around the city.
Mrs Gray said: “It not only benefits pubs and beer shops but it also boosts the local economy as more people use hotels, restaurants and transport services”
The shop which yesterday announced it will be opening a new shop in Leah’s Yard, is set to host a 5 km run and brewery tour this Saturday.
Sheffield Beer week collaborated with the Festival of the Outdoors to make a beer, with some of the sales being donated towards CRPE Peak District and Women in Beer UK.
