Vintage shop owners have gathered together to support an ovarian cancer charity.

Sheffield’s award-winning Hagglers Corner is launching the ‘Through the Needle’ event today from 5 to 10 pm, raising money for the Nicola Murray Foundation.

The event will offer bustling vintage clothing, sustainable clothing workshops, and vinyl records.

Fiona Short, 29, the event organiser, said: “We want to bring the community together around the area and show them we are here as a shopping centre.

“We want to come together because we haven’t had many events as a group.”

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Nicola Murray Foundation, which raises money for low-grade ovarian cancer.

Caroline Turnbull, 52, a trustee at the Nicola Murray Foundation, said: “It was lovely to speak to one of the organisers of the event recently, and I believe that they were keen to support a charity as part of their event.

“After canvassing their fellow members, involved in Hagglers Corner, I believe that this charity was something that spoke to them at some kind of a personal level. We really appreciate all donations, and every penny goes directly to the centre.”

Emma Carlina, 27, the owner of Sunshine Your Style, is one of the sellers at this event.

She said: “I’ll be bringing a lot of first-time pieces that are being used in photoshoots. You’ll be able to shop some super rare pieces from me and things that haven’t been available online.”

Hagglers Corner is a community of 14 independent businesses nestled around a vibrant courtyard and mezzanine. It has three vintage shops, a cafe, a bar, a hairdresser, and a tattoo shop.

Ms Short said: “It looks like Narnia when you walk into it. You kind of walk through the first door, and it opens up into this mad world.”

Visitors can expect to explore a range of small business shops as well as music and food.

Emily Stanley, 26, owner of Back In Day Boutique, is also one of the sellers today.

She said: “I did an event there a couple of years ago, and that was really good. I am excited to build on it, bring everyone together, and see what other people’s businesses are doing.”
