Reverend and the Makers frontman Jon McClure has been announced as the celebrity guest at the upcoming charity event Night Owls Sleep Over.

Due to take place on Friday, 22 March, the Sheffield Wednesday Community programme has partnered with Roundabout to raise money for young homeless people.

They are asking supporters to brave what will presumably be a cold night and trade their bed for a sleeping bag at the famous Hillsborough stadium.

Many activities suitable for all ages have been organised for the evening, including a live performance from Sheffield-based musician Jon McClure.

Jon McClure said: “It’s great to see the club we all love using its platform for such a great cause.

“It saddens me greatly that anyone should have to be homeless in a country as wealthy as Britain.”

The event will begin at 8pm and finish at 7am the following morning.

It comes after a huge popularity in recent years with an altered version of being more inclusive for families this year.

The cost to take part is £20 per person, with a sponsorship target of £100 and is suspected to gain attention from families and football fans all over Sheffield.

Other activities at the sleepover include exclusive access to the stadium, an immersive tour of the grounds and the chance to explore the history of the Stadium.

Roundabout Fundraising Manager Emily Bush said: “Of course, an event like this cannot truly replicate what it is like to be homeless, lonely and frightened – but it will offer a small insight into the realities that are faced and will help to make a real difference to the lives of young people.”

Roundabout has continued to provide shelter, support and life skills to young people through vital charity work including their involvement in the Sheffield Park hill Uprise, Urban Hill Climb which will be held on 23rd of March, as well as abseils, hiking and marathon sponsorships.
