More than 300 people attended an Iftar dinner at Hillsborough stadium on Tuesday to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.
Muslims around the world fast during sunlight and Iftar is the meal they eat to break their fast.
The event was organised by the Central Local Areas Committee and Sheffield Wednesday Community and was funded by Sheffield Councillors.
Guests at the event enjoyed a free stadium tour before they took their seats in the 1867 lounge to enjoy the rest of the celebration.
There were many guest speakers before a citing of the Quran was heard which marked the ending of the fast.
Each table were given dates, the traditional food used to break the fast, before more food was served.
There was one key theme at the heart of the dinner which was outlined on the event’s leaflet: ‘bringing communities together’ and people from all religions, communities and cultures attended the celebration.
Councillor Douglas Johnson said: “It’s vital to keep the feeling of community present in the city and functions like this certainly do that.
“There are some very difficult things going on in the world but this is about sending out the message of peace, getting people together and having some cross-cultural conversations which might not have happened otherwise.”
