A wide range of Romanian desserts and flavours will be brought to the city with the opening of AleBea Cakes this week.
Located on Langsett Road, Walkley, AleBea cakes will provide a mix of Romanian flavours with much loved classics.
Owner, Mihai Dinu, runs the business. He said: “People are more than welcome to this space, where you can enjoy the taste of Romanian traditions.”
It’s the first confectionary store of its kind in the area and Mihai has been surprised with how quickly it has become so popular, having faced difficulties setting up.
Mihai and his wife opened their business from home later last year, and by December felt the progress was significant enough to open their first in person location.
He said: “It is our first shop after we started the business in September. We started from home, but our customers increased and we had to find space.”
“We decided to look for different places in town, but the prices were honestly too high and the business rates were too high. It was just not in our budget.”
“But we feel we have found a place that is not too big and not too small, but a lovely area to welcome everyone and hopefully make cakes for everyone as well.”
The business is growing quickly, but Mihai emphasised his belief that customers will always be at the heart of the operation.
He said: “I could have a queue of 100 people, but I would still make sure everyone gets what they want, exactly how they want it.”
AleBea cakes are determined to create deserts to suit all dietary requirements, and Mihai said they can adjust to any dietary requirements.
As well as desserts, the store has a unique design, with pink walls and a ‘snappable’ seating area.
Mihai said: “My wife researched many cake shops, but we wanted to implement ideas from our country so we combined them both to make something we feel looks nice.”
He said: “We want to look after people. If someone asks us for a cake without sugar or gelatine, we will do it.”
“We only use the highest quality ingredients to give a unique taste experience. Each dessert is created with passion and attention to detail.”
