The Showroom Cinema and Café Bar has been awarded Best Entertainment Venue courtesy of the Best Bar None scheme ran by Sheffield BID.
The award celebrates accredited, licensed venues which are judged in an assessment that prioritises customer care and safety.
Julie Simpson, Head of HR and Governance, said: “We’re really, really proud. Last year we won runner up for best newcomer to Best Bar None and runner up for best entertainment. This year, we wanted to win it and we did. Brilliant!”
The 2023-2024 scheme last year was the official relaunch of Best Bar None after the pandemic, and invited licensed premises within Sheffield City Centre to apply.
Julie said: “We have pride, we’re thorough and we’re communicative. We’re a broad venue with a bar and a cinema, and we’re open nearly every day of the year apart from Christmas.
“We’ve ensured that we are consistent and our staff want us to be the best venue and best entertainment. They’ve listened, learned and passed on that knowledge to our customers and ultimately we’ve won the award.
“Independence is always a thing that we say, we’re independent and we’re proud.”

Showroom Cinema and Bar is an independent bar, cinema and conference and events and creative industries managed workspace on Paternoster Row.
Showroom’s previous awards include accreditation as Investors in Diversity.
Julie said: “The cinema’s been open 30 years this year, the bar’s been open 30 years in two years’ time, and the Workstation has been open even longer.
“What makes us unique is that we could be a one-stop venue for whether you want to come and see a film, come for a business meeting, or come for tea and a few drinks.”
Runner-up for Best Entertainment Venue was Genting Casino, which also won People’s Choice Best Entertainment Venue.
The casino previously won the Best Bar None award for Best Entertainment Venue in 2024.
Some other award nominees included All Bar One, The Cavendish, Grosvenor Casino and, Gameshow All-Stars and Roxy Ball Room.
Julie added: “Please, if you don’t know us already, you know we’re on the edge of the city centre, but we are Sheffield’s current best entertainment venue!”
