Speaking at a sustainable market event set up by his charity, Sheffield Action on Plastic, Greg Hewitt explained how small changes to people’s lifestyles in reducing single-use plastic could have a huge environmental benefit.

As well as supporting local businesses and makers of sustainable gifts made from an array of recycled metals, glass, pottery and more, the event was aimed to help people think about lower waste alternative shopping and living a lower impact lifestyle.

The majority of stalls advertised pocket-sized gifts made without single-use plastics, adopting reusable alternatives, from bags and keyrings to bath soaps and coasters.

Over 20 local makers hosted a stall inside Victoria Hall, designed as both a concert venue and a centre of mission, with numerous rooms for social work.
