A new take on James Lapine’s ‘Into the Woods’ is being showcased by The University of Sheffield’s Performance Society (SUPAS).
This student-led adaptation keeps Sondheim’s original songs but adds a modern twist with creative staging, clever costume design, and loads of heart.
Directed by drama student Emma Clarke, the show dives into classic fairy tales with a fun, emotional, and sometimes dark edge.
‘Into the Woods’ follows familiar characters from fairy tales like Cinderella, Jack and the beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood as their stories mix together while they try to make their wishes come true, but things start to fall apart. They realise that actions have consequences and happy endings aren’t always simple.
The performance is being held in the Drama Studio on Glossop Road from Wednesday 30 April to Saturday 3 May.
