Famous screen printing producer APG Works is to close in June

by Max Astle | May 8, 2025 | Community, Culture, Top Story 2 - Home Page sub 1, Watch

Rupert Wood, 70, owns APG Works in Sheffield, which specialises in screen printing and framing for many famous artists and musicians.

Mr. Wood has been making screen-printing and framing pieces for over 17 years at his studio on Sidney Street and has worked across the world.

From Ecclesall Road to the USA, Mr. Wood has been a staple in the screen-printing industry.

But the screen-printing community in South Yorkshire is dwindling.

According to ONS data in 2015, the annual turnover for companies in the screen printing and framing industries was over £2.1 billion; in 2017, it fell to over £1.7 billion.

Mr. Wood hopes he can continue the business as he leaves his flagship location in June, with him hoping new blood will take the wheel.
