Open Up Sheffield 2025 is back for its second weekend this Saturday, once again showcasing the artistic talent of the city.

This annual event celebrates artists of all kinds and invites the public into studios and workshops across Sheffield to get a closer look at the work and the people behind it.

Local artist Cath Dunn, who’s taking part this year, says the event offers something social media can’t:

“Social media is great but it’s just a quick glimpse and then you move on, while Open Up Sheffield allows people to spend longer looking at art and see the makers in their spaces.”

With around 100 artists on the lineup this year, from ceramists and painters to sculptors and printmakers, there’s something for every art lover.

We sat down with Cath to hear more about her artistic journey and why events like Open Up Sheffield are so vital for independent artists.
