A Sheffield-based charity group has launched a new initiative—the “Trauma-Informed Agenda”—to reshape how the city addresses homelessness.

Central to the plan is redesigning the charity group’s internal spaces to better support individuals affected by trauma.

Tim Renshaw, the chief executive officer of the Archer Project said: “Trauma is a really important thing to understand with homelessness.”

Over 95 percent of the homeless population in Sheffield are experiencing trauma such as PTSD or adult trauma.

The group has already developed detailed plans and is currently working to secure nearly £2 million in funding to implement the changes and ensure long-term sustainability.

The new plan aims to not only provide shelter but to provide a healing environment to meet the complex needs of Sheffield’s homeless population.
