Higher Fields announced plans to bring together and celebrate a mix of DIY crews, collectives, artists and musicians from South Yorkshire and beyond for a festival on the 27 June 2026.

Running from midday to 9pm, the festival will be followed by an official afterparty at Steamworks.

Higher fields aim to bring the collaborative values of DIY music to the forefront and offer artists, both established and emerging, a stage – allowing them to forge a path outside of conventional industry sectors.

Tickets for the event will operate on a pay-what-you-feel basis, with prices starting at £4 in order to support the artists involved while remaining accessible to the public.

Several from the city’s DIY scene are already involved as stage partners, including Gut Level, Groundwork and Grub Records.

Profit will be split proportionately between performers and crew, reinforcing the festival’s pledge to equality and sustainability.

Further supporters and lineup details are expected in the following weeks with the Sarah Nulty Foundation to support a community stage championing the next generation of DIY musicians.

Tickets are on sale now via Resident Advisor.
