Small businesses across Sheffield going plastic free ahead of Earth Day 

With Earth Day 2024 approaching, small businesses across Sheffield took on an environmentally friendly approach with plastic free products.

The sustainability movement has become more widespread with the Plastic Market Free Event held on Sunday by Sheffield Action on Plastic, showcasing this shift.

Sheffield schools to receive over £500k for special educational needs

Sheffield City Council have revealed funding for the Mercia Learning Trust which will provide special educational needs places for two schools in the region.

Watch: Festival of Debate returns to Sheffield

The annual Festival of Debate has returned for the ninth time this week to bring discussions and lectures to venues in Sheffield.

The event is run by Opus Independence and hosts over 60 events with over 150 speakers making it the biggest political activist festival in the country.

Protest against ‘inhumane’ anti-migrant laws

People in Sheffield came together today to protest the government’s approach to migration, which they described as a ‘hostile anti-migrant agenda’.

The protest, called Demo to End the Hostile Environment, took place outside the Home Office building in Sheffield, which is home to the UK Visa & Immigration Centre in the city.
