Free electric buses across Sheffield city centre from April

From Monday 8 April Sheffield City Council will introduce four free-to-use electric buses in the city centre.

Brand new, zero-emission buses will replace the existing Sheffield Connect buses. Stops will be conveniently situated within a short stroll of key activity hubs, connecting with the current tram and train networks.

Sheffield City Council to ban ‘harmful’ advertisement in ground-breaking new policy

Billboard adverts aimed at junk food, fossil fuels, airlines, gambling and vaping are to be banned in Sheffield. 

Following a meeting held earlier this week, Sheffield City council has decided to ban these ‘harmful’ ads from all authority-owned hoardings, social media and sponsorship opportunities.

Dog found by RSPCA ‘barely alive’ finds new forever home

A dog described as a “walking skeleton” when found in Barnsley has undergone a huge transformation in RSPCA care and found a loving new home.

Luca was barely alive, terrified and couldn’t move when he was found by South Yorkshire Police in April 2023.

Sheffield combat robotics hosts its latest event

Steel City Antweight Robots (SCAR) hosted its latest battle at Sheffield’s Kommune last weekend. 

This event had players build robots under the ‘Beetleweight’ regulation, ensuring they all fall under the 1.5kg weight limit. 

SCAR was founded in 2022 by Gus Collier and regularly hosts ‘robot combat’ events around Sheffield.
