Barnsley stabbing victim named by police

The victim of a stabbing in Barnsley in the early hours of Wednesday morning has been named by South Yorkshire Police

Lazarus Makono died at the scene following the stabbing, which saw officers called at 1:21am on Wednesday 21 February to reports of a stabbing at a house on Cooperative Street, Goldthorpe.

New strategy plan to celebrate heritage introduced in Sheffield

Joined Up Heritage Sheffield has created a new 10 year plan to focus on the city’s heritage, and how diverse it is.

It focuses on defining what heritage is and why it matters, with hopes of leading the city to a position where it will understand and celebrate its heritage better.

Mesothelioma Research Centre raising money for charity in Fitness February

The Mesothelioma UK Research Centre at the University of Sheffield is taking part in #FitnessFebruary to raise funds for charity.

The team of six are currently at the top of the leader board having covered 762.5km by walking, running, cycling and swimming, significantly exceeding their target distance of 380km.

New Sheffield music hub awarded more than £100,000 in council funding

A new Sheffield music venue has been awarded almost £120,000 of council funding to help complete the project after a meeting of the council’s Economic Development and Skills Policy Committee.

The Harmony Works project aims to transform Canada House, in Sheffield City Centre, into a space which can be used for music education, as part of the wider regeneration of the Castlegate area.
